This is something that I’ve heard many new moms say. You know, when you’re anxious, you touch your face, and it doesn’t seem to be in a good place. I am not sure if it’s true, but I’ve heard it’s a sign of fear or something. Maybe someone else knows more.
I have also heard it from new mothers in the past, but this is something that is so true, I dont know how else to say it. Most people dont understand how we feel as a result of our experiences. We are constantly changing, moving, changing our thoughts and feelings. If our faces feel good, it could be that we are truly okay. Or, when our faces feel bad, we are a very tiny bit concerned.
A study I read the other day has something to say about this; it has to do with the fact that when you get anxious, you usually take a lot of things in your hands. You may be putting your hands into things, touching things, or just holding them out in front of your face. One person in the study, for example, said she would always hold her hand out to her face to check if she was okay.
Anxiety can be a great motivator. When you hold something in your hands, your brain processes it differently than when you look at things that are not in your hands. This can be very important for us to understand because anxiety is often triggered by an internal message. If you are anxious while you are doing something, like walking, you’re making the internal message louder and more clear, and that can cause you to freak out.
I often use my hands to feel if my body is still moving. My brain processes that as a signal that I am still alive and well. When I touch my face, I am processing that as a signal that I am still alive and well. I have experienced that when I have been anxious and not moved for a while, my hands will start to twitch. This is a clear signal that the person is still alive and well.
