The truth is that sissy workouts are very popular at the gym but very few people know what they are or how they work. I’ve been teaching sissy workouts in martial arts for a while but have never given them much thought. I was introduced to sissy workouts by a friend of mine who loves to workout so I dove headfirst into the world of sissy workouts.
In sissy workout classes, you’re doing a variation of the same lift/jump/strength exercise and just doing it a little bit differently. For example, sometimes you’ll do the same strength exercise but move your feet instead of your hips. The goal is to work out your shoulder muscles instead of your legs.
In sissy workouts you are not actually doing a workout. But you are doing a variation of the same lift. So for example, if you have a squat, you are actually doing a lift. If you have your back straight and you’re squatting, that is a lift.
There are so many other variations you can do in a sissy workout. You can do a dumbbell squat or a dumbbell press. You can do a side lunge or a front lunge. You can do a front deadlifts or a barbell front squats. But in a sissy workout you are doing a lift.
But what is a sissy workout, you ask? Well, it’s a variation of the same lift that you would do in a regular workout, but the way you do it is different. In a normal workout, you would do a straight set with a barbell and then you would do a pause, then you would repeat the same movements with a dumbbell.
A sissy workout is a more extreme variation of the same movements. In a sissy workout, you would do another straight set with that same barbell. Then you would just do a pause, then you would repeat the same movements with a dumbbell. In a sissy workout, you would just do a dumbbell front squats or a dumbbell incline or a dumbbell bench press.
The way I see it, a sissy workout is a workout without any of the bells and whistles that make a normal workout so fun. It’s just an exercise that doesn’t really have any purpose apart from having you do it. In fact you can make it a little boring by just focusing on the “dumbbell” aspect of it and not doing the rest.
The best part about making a sissy workout is that its so simple. You just do the dumbbell squat, and you feel light as a feather. But its best because it’s not just about the squatting. In fact, I’ll go and say that part of the reason I like sissy workouts is because you can make it seem like they’re not doing any exercises at all. So you can just do your standard deadlift or squat with your dumbbell or your bench press.
The way I like to think of it, the sissy workouts are exactly the same as the sissy workouts. You do the same exercises, but you do them in such a way that they feel like theyre not doing any exercises at all. In contrast, the real sissy workouts do not have a dumbbell or even a squat bar at all.
In my opinion, the real sissy workouts are the ones that have you doing all of your lifting with a weighted bar. However, as my friend Mark recently pointed out, the ones that have you lifting with a dumbbell are the ones that were actually invented. In fact, I think it’s pretty well documented that the dumbbells were invented to make lifting weight with a bar a little more difficult.
