The problem is that promethazine doesn’t work, and since it is a legal drug for adults, it’s often available and sold over the counter. So there it is, floating around in the drug stores.

I could not count the number of times I’ve seen a pregnancy test in a drug store. Of course, there’s the possibility that they’re just mislabeled or it’s not an actual pregnancy. But, as it turns out, promethazine is a narcotic and can cause you to hallucinate, lose your balance, and possibly even pass out. If you’re having a hard time making it out of the store, get the nurse to help you.

The second thing you should do is talk to your doctor and find out what you can safely do, before you start taking promethazine.
