If you’re a light sleeper, you might be in bed for more than 4 hours at a stretch. Or you might sleep through an entire day at a time.
The problem for light sleepers is that they really do have to find a way to sleep through the night. It’s not that they’re averse to the darkness. After all, the night sky is beautiful in its full, crisp glory. But there are some things in life that just don’t lend themselves to being easily distracted.
Light sleepers are probably more prone to insomnia than normal people, and a good way to combat that is with effective light therapy. This is because during the day, we usually use our eyes to focus on a lot of different things. You might be an excellent guitarist, but if you only have a few hours to play guitar, you wont be able to focus on anything else. To combat this, you can use light therapy to give your eyes a break.
Light therapy is one of the most effective ways to shut your brain off, and not only does it work on eye fatigue, but it aids in other sleep disorders as well.
For those of you who have been sleeping for a long time and don’t realize it, you will get the most benefit from light therapy (or “light sleep”) if you are sleeping in a room with a lot of sunlight and windows. During the day, our eyes are constantly looking at the outside world, so our eyes are getting tired of constantly focusing on the light. However, at night, our eyes are not constantly looking at the outside world.
When our eyes need to focus on a certain area, it needs a certain amount of light. That light is called a photopic threshold. Those of you who dont know what a photopic threshold is will need to look it up.
A photopic threshold is the amount of light a person needs in order to focus constantly on the same area without having to constantly look at the outside world. Most importantly, it is the amount of light that people who sleep with windows and daylight use to focus on their bedroom windows at night. So if you are a light sleeper and your bedroom windows arent open when you are sleeping, your eyes will get tired of looking at the outside world.

We have to remember that sleep affects our circadian rhythm, which is basically how we feel like our bodies are trying to get rid of the outside world. This is probably why we tend to wake up so early when we are on our least active nap time.
The good news is that if you keep your bedroom windows open when you are sleeping, your eyes will get tired of looking out of them anyway as long as your head is straight. The bad news is that your eyes will get tired of looking at the outside world if you move your head from side to side while you sleep.
